The process of creating a portrait.
First we will discuss your ideas about your portrait. Why do you want this portrait? Is it to be a drawing or a painting? Is it of you or is it of someone else? Is it a gift to someone or a gift to yourself? How simple or complex? What clothing, pose, props and background?
I will generally work from photographs taken in either the setting of your choice or in my studio. The photo session lasts about 2 hours.
I will select the best photographs to use as reference. We will discuss the photographs and, upon approval, I will proceed with the portrait.
Drawings are completed sooner than paintings. I use a traditional layered method of oil painting that first developed in the 15th century.
